A postdoctoral position is available to study mechanisms of Hedgehog signal transduction at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN. Areas of interest include biogenesis and secretion of the Hedgehog ligand, regulation and signaling of the signal transducer Smoothened and investigation of the downstream effectors to which it signals. Positions are available for Post- Doctoral Fellows for studies of mechanisms of leukemia stem cell transformation, growth regulation and drug resistance, and development of novel approaches to target leukemia stem cells.Specific areas of investigation relate to (i) microenvironmental mechanisms of altered growth and drug resistance of leukemia stem cells (ii) abnormalities in intracellular regulatory mechanisms including altered signaling and abnormal SIRT1- mediated modulation of p53 signaling in leukemia stem cells (iii) sequential acquisition of genetic abnormalities leading to stem cell dysfunction in the course of development of therapy- related myelodysplasia pathogenesis. The Nuclear Theory and Few- Body Physics group at Chalmers performs theoretical research on nuclear structure and reaction theory, few- body physics, nuclear forces, effective field theory, and the physics of ultracold atomic gases. It is anticipated that the research performed by the postdoctoral fellow will focus on the modeling of rare nuclear processes using chiral effective field theory and ab initio nuclear structure theory. NTNU is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow. The candidate is expected to pursue research in the area of communication networks. A particular focus is on designing robust and cost-efficient network architectures and approaches to support communication between heterogeneous nodes in coastal and arctic maritime operations and surveillance (CAMOS) sensor networks for the IME Lighthouse project CAMOS. A possible application scenario is communication and networking for deep sea mining. The design should take into consideration the special characteristics of sensor networks, such as heterogeneous nodes and intermittent communication.
