Palacky University opens a position for postdoctoral researcher on
the visual perception and cognition in motor control of locomotion
in children (P54). Experimental work including the analysis of
kinetic and physiological characteristics of walking in children
with normal motorics and children with developmental disorders of
motorics with manipulation of such experimental factors as the
type and intensity of walking, physical qualities of the
environment, controlled limitations of visual perception and
anticipation, degree of physical burden and using the paradigm of
double tasks. Fellowships are open to the young scientists who
finished their PhD studies in an appropriate field after March 28,
2008. Excellent level of English language, ability to work

University of Rome Tor Vergata opens a postdoctoral position
funded by the ERC Starting Grant NATURE NANODEVICES in
the laboratory of Biosensors and Nanomachines under the
supervision of Dr. Francesco Ricci. The overriding goal of this
research project is to mimic Nature in the design of novel nucleic
acid based nanodevices that detect cancer, provide detectiondriven therapy, and monitor treatment efficacy. The candidate will
engineer and optimize highly specific biomolecular DNA- based
nanodevices that undergo binding-induced conformational changes
upon target binding and, in doing so, signal the presence of the
cancer marker or release a therapeutic cargo. Requirements:
Expertise in bioengineering, DNA sensors, cell imaging, synthetic

University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) opens a postdoctoral
position in the laboratory of Dr. April Pyle. Research is focused on
improving their understanding of skeletal muscle progenitor cell
differentiation from human pluripotent stem cells. Development of
reprogramming, differentiation and in vitro and in vivo analysis of
skeletal muscle cells are key components of the NIH funded
research project. Research will also include evaluation and
development of differentiation, correction and screening platforms
using control and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) human
induced pluripotent stem cells. Candidates must possess a PhD or
equivalent degree and have excellent training in tissue culture,
cell analysis and molecular biology techniques. Previous
experience with human pluripotent stem cells, skeletal muscle and

University of Missouri-Columbia open postdoctoral fellow

UT Southwestern opens a postdoctoral position to study
mechanisms of chromatin- dependent transcription and
posttranslational modification of transcription factors, cofactors and
the general transcription machinery. In vitro-reconstituted
chromatin transcription systems are frequently used in the lab to
identify factors and pathways leading to gene activation and
repression. Current focuses include transcription mechanisms and
chromatin dynamics regulated by p53, AP-1, HPV- encoded E2
and E6 proteins, and Brd4 BET family proteins. The candidate
must have a PhD and a strong background in transcription,
chromatin, protein biochemistry, molecular biology is preferred.
