The Mitra Lab at Cold Spring Harbor is looking to fill a
postdoctoral research position, open from June 1st, 2014, by
someone with experience in image processing and analysis. The
candidate will work with their team on the Mouse Brain
Architecture (MBA) project, doing atlas registration and data
analysis of the collection of mouse brain images, such as detecting
and quantifying cells and processes. The ideal candidate will have
a strong computational and mathematical background, with a PhD
(necessary) in computer science, physics, math, statistics,
engineering, or a related field. The candidate will have
programming skills and working knowledge of Matlab, Linux, and
familiarity with C/C ++ . The job requires detailed knowledge of
image processing in a scientific context; conceptual familiarity

One Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available
immediately in the Laboratory for Carbon Nanostructures (LCN) at
the Physical Sciences and Engineering Division of the King
Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST).
Candidates with expert- level skills in transmission electron
microscopy (TEM) are encouraged to apply. The position is
particularly well suited for an electron microscopist with interests
in both in situ methods and carbon nanostructures. A PhD degree,
within5years of receipt, in physics, materials science, chemistry
or related areas is mandatory. The candidate must be a skilled
electron microscopist with driving capability of aberration
corrected TEMs. Experience in one or more of the following subareas in TEM is necessary: in situ probing, high resolution imaging, electron energy loss spectroscopy and FIB sample
preparation/manipulation. The research fellow is expected to
optimize in situ methods for aberration- corrected TEM with a
particular emphasis in probing and manipulating carbon

A postdoctoral fellow position is available immediately at Albert
Einstein College of Medicine in New York. They focus on
studying: (1) neural mechanisms of aging, lifespan and longevity
control at both cellular and organism levels; (2) neural
mechanisms of aging- and obesity-related metabolic diseases such
as diabetes, hypertension and neurodegenerative diseases; and (3)
molecular and cellular interventions of these diseases through
using neuropeptides or neural stem cells. Candidates must have
recently completed his/her PhD training or equivalent, and have

publication record, ambitious scientific goals, self motivation, and
the ability to work independently as well as cooperatively with a

A postdoctoral position is available at Massachusetts General
Hospital to investigate the gastrointestinal (GI) regulation of energy
balance and metabolic function using rodent models of bariatric
surgery and GI medical devices. Research in this laboratory is
focused on understanding the physiological, behavioral and
molecular mechanisms underlying the metabolic effects of GI
weight loss surgery and on the development of novel approaches to
the treatment of obesity, diabetes and related disorders. The
laboratory utilizes newly- developed rodent models of bariatric
surgical procedures and medical devices to examine the GI
regulation of food intake, energy expenditure and glucose and lipid
homeostasis. Approaches include pharmacological, genetic and
surgical manipulation with assessment of biochemical, genetic,
neurophysiological, cellular and behavioral responses. Candidates
must have a PhD or equivalent degree, experience in the study of
metabolism or physiology, and a track record of publications
in peer-reviewed journals. Effective verbal and written
