Compartment ambient noise analysis and control

Abstract: Compartment ambient noise has great impact on crew′s health, it is therefore an important criteria to evaluate the adaptability of a ship. This paper took ambient noise in a typical compartment as an example, analyzed the current ambient noise level, focused on ship’s ventilation system analysis and summarized the characteristics, causes and different noise conditions in separate compartments as well. After analyzing, several new passive and active noise-control technologies which according to researches on noise characteristics in diffident compartments were proposed, which contribute more useful and efficient methods to practical ship ambient noise control.
